for those who live alone(or dont), do you shut your bedroom door when you sleep? Do you close the bathroom door when you go the bathroom?

No to both and I'm single. The bedroom door is actually propped open so the cat can get in and out since his litter box is in the closet. Bathroom door seldom gets closed either unless the pets are bugging me. The one exception is when I am shaving (straight razor)... nothing like a cold nose to the crotch to make you damn near slit your throat, lol.

When I am cohabitating with someone, be it housemate or boyfriend - bathroom door gets closed. Just not that interested in sharing that particular biological function.

When I've lived with housemates, it depends on the situation. When I've had female housemates where we kept the same hours, I would leave my bedroom door open unless one of us had an overnight guest. Easier than getting up every few hours to let the cats in (or out) of my bedroom. In mixed households, door stayed closed.

In my current situation, living with my somewhat unpredictable ex-bf, we each have our own room so I tend to close my door when I go to sleep (since he is prone to manic episodes where he stays up for 24-40 hours at a time and is well.. sorta drunk and crazy at times).

When I've lived alone (which I prefer), doors are left open.

We have a huge master bedroom/bath/walk-in set up that is my little sanctuary away from noisy kids. The bedroom door stays closed at all times. If I'm in there I don't want to be bothered. The bathroom door on the other hand is always open. And after walking into the freakin thing the other night in a thick codeine syrup daze I might just pull it off altogether.

Who has a door on their bedroom?

Bathroom door closed and locked (fan on, in that order) regardless of other occupants, I demand full privacy for my business.

Haven't been single for a while, but I've always closed the bedroom door, at least while I was using it. Force of habit from usually living with other people, I guess.

Unless I'm using the master bed/bath, the bathroom door gets shut as well, otherwise the dog comes in and stares at me. I hate having an audience when I go ;)

If it's just me around the house, no I don't close the bathroom door.

We close the bedroom door if one of us is sleeping while the other isn't. We also keep the bedroom, bathroom, and office doors closed if the heater is on.

Bedroom door closed, because we have kids, and this encourages them to stay the hell out of our room!

Bathroom door closed too, because we have kids. Once they are gone, it probably won't be closed. Unless we have company, that is.

Actually, I prefer to pee outside...

The only time that I truly lived alone was for the first year-and-a-half after my divorce. The only time that I closed the bath/bedroom doors was when my kids came over.
At about the year-and-a-half mark, my mother retired and moved back up here, and stayed with me for about a year. SOMEHOW, in the time that she was living down south, SHE stopped closing the bathroom door when she was in there, and decided to continue that policy when she moved in with me.
Trust me on this, THAT is NOT a sight that you want to stumble in on!!! Especially when you're just returning from a night out at the local bar!!!

I'm single- Closing door

Bedroom yes

Bathroom no

Looks like the only person to agree with me haha... sounds a bit backwards, even to me, but I just need the door closed when I sleep.

When single neither except when guests over then both.

Now depends on pee or poop, sometimes for pee always for poop. For shower yes, I don't want anyone to see me naked unless there is someting to be accomplished.

Bedroom door always because we don't want dog (and cats before) to make it their furry/hairy nesting place. Bedroom must be free of pets.

Dog really wants "in" though.

Bedroom and bathroom door closed at all times. Doesn't matter who is home or if I'm home alone, they are always closed.

Agree with Fritobandito. Always closed. Occupied or not...

I was starting to think I was the only one. I just like my privacy all the time. I guess I'm just used to keeping my doors closed. Living with my brother and parents in the past has taught me to keep them closed at all times.

I do think the always closed door policy is a good one though especially the bathroom. The reason is if you alway keep it closed, no one even the wife or girlfriend will question the time when you really do want to door closed. To close the door out of the blue raises eyebrows and possibly questions you may not want to answer....always prepare in advance for the future. lol

...quick check of ages....yep, your day will come. At some point (in age) all the excersize in the world won't make anyone want to see you naked! lol

I'm not single so I don't technically qualify. However, I do a lot of traveling for my work and whenever I have a hotel room I get a kick out of leaving the bathroom door open. Only downside is that it makes for an awkward visit when a co-worker randomly shows up soon after the deed, wanting to come in and try some homebrew...
