I think I ended up getting 4". After the trim washer. I used a piece of 1/4" luan on the outside and a small piece as a shim on the inside for support. I think I could have gone a bit shorter but they were cheap and had the bib welded on. It really depends on the shape and thickness of the foam in your door.

Guys I just made a kegerator
Out of a frigidaire 4.4 . 2 kegs. Haven't decided what tap handle. I wanted to go cheap and put the tap through the door instead of the tower. Any cons to this? How long of a shank is typical to go through a mini fridge door?

I used a 4 1/4? with a barbed end on my kegerator which goes through the door. It's better to go through the doors as your lines and taps stay cool compared to through a tower, from what I've read.

Yes sir. I'd rather not try my luck cutting a whole in the top. Seems you get better performance with door mounted taps as all the lines are in the fridge and you aren't adding any more volume to cool. I just wondered what length shank people are running. I'll try to take a measurement tonight. Anyone able to run 2 door taps ?

Here is my kegerator. This, my tiny laundry room, happens to be where I also brew double batches, ferment, store, dispense and occasionally wash clothes.

2 more perlick taps to add then finished! Going to use this weekend with just 2. I have a 4 pass Plate chiller. Love it so far

Looks great! I did one exactly like this with 6 taps. One word of warning - if people are going in and out of the box for bottles or other items, it is real easy for them to bump the taps. I used short tap handles to hopefully avoid that.

Thanks a lot JonW, now I've got to figure out how to squeeze kegging gear into my already cramped 8.5' popup... :(

Thanks. I did that almost 3 years ago as an additional box for our brew club (Brewcommune). We go to the SoCal Homebrew Festival every year and between the 2 club 6 tap boxes and several 2 tap ones that other members have, we put up 20+ beers on tap. The reach in top is great for the other specialty bottled beers we also serve at the festival. We don't have the boxes stacked up like in the pic - that was just for serving at our camping spot. :D

LOL - Go big or go home!! ;)

You need to flip it before uploading it.

This doesn't work from mobile. You have to link to it for it to work right. Uploading from a computer doesn't change the orientation but for some reason uploading from a phone it iPad flips the photos.

I use iPhone and I don't have any issues. You can flip the photos in the phones editor before using the app to upload. Or take the pictures in right orientation to begin with.

Well thanks. It use to be my ferm chamber for the past year, had to scrub lots of imperial stout explosion out of it. Its a tight fit, but it will fit 4 pinlocks, no tank. And you have to go hulk mode and rip out all the door shelving.

The smaller kegerator i made about a year ago, it's been great so far, the bigger one I just started working on, will eventually have four taps

Here's a picture of the keezer that I built this summer. It uses a Holiday 7 cu ft. freezer. I was unable to fit 4 ball lock kegs in the main section so I ended up using three 5 gallon ball lock kegs and one 2.5 gallon keg on the compressor hump.

Many thanks to the people who built this style of keeper before me. I definitely stole some ideas from their posts.
