Here's my kegerator. It's a 1951 international harvester fridge. I am going to add two more taps to the front but I need a bigger drip tray. Any suggestions on a drip tray that will work with a curved front fridge such as this?View attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1419214437.827255.jpg

Flex a piece of poplar or something a bit softer over the area where the drip tray will mount. Then apply some sanding sealer to wet it down a bit. Let it dry. Then sand the face of the wood down flat.

Comparatively, my kegerator has nothing on others I've seen in here. However, I'm living in a dry country and I believe I am one of only a handful that have this setup in the entire Middle East. I just got my first keg with picnic tap and desperately need a way to chill it. However, I do not have room for a refrigerator or freezer but one this size would fit. Does anyone recognize this model? It is would absolutely work for us. We have dorm fridges that are bigger but are full of molded shelving and steps that make it impossible to fit our new 5gal keg.

I got one similar to this from best buy. It's a danby model. You'll have to remove the molded shelving in the door though.

Here's a picture of the keezer that I built this summer. It uses a Holiday 7 cu ft. freezer. I was unable to fit 4 ball lock kegs in the main section so I ended up using three 5 gallon ball lock kegs and one 2.5 gallon keg on the compressor hump.

Many thanks to the people who built this style of keeper before me. I definitely stole some ideas from their posts.

I see your coffin top is above the top of the tap handles. If you don't mind... What is the dimension from the centerline of your shank holes to the underside of the coffin top?

I want to build a coffin with doors so need to know how much height is needed above the shank holes so the doors will clear the tap handles when they are closed.

Would greatly appreciate the next time you go pull a draft from that beautiful keezer, and you happen to have a tape measure in your pocket, if you give me an idea of the height needed.

That's way too small. The one I got was a 4.4 and it just barely fits 2 ball lock kegs. It will hold 1 ball lock and 1 pin lock. But not 2 pin locks.

Its so frustrating. I shouldve kept to bottling until we had space to just do it right. Thank you for your help man, really appreciate it.

It's hard to find one that's perfect. I got the model I did because all I had to do was wire in the stc controller in place of the thermostat. And it didn't have the freezer shelf up top to deal with. All I had to so was rip out the door shelving and it worked fine without the controller, but I had to be careful not to set it too low. You'll have to go out and physically look at what you need. But once you are armed with a model number you can search for the best price online. I only went to bestbuy because I have rewards there and got my 189.99 fridge for 140. You might find a similar or better model at Costco or Walmart or target. The 4.4 is super small. I decided to take your advice and have a beer! And while I was there, I measured and the faucet centerline is 5 inches below the underside of the top.

I like the your idea of having doors on the coffin, especially because I can't find faucet locks for the new Perlick model faucets.

I decided to take your advice and have a beer! And while I was there, I measured and the faucet centerline is 5 inches below the underside of the top.

I like the your idea of having doors on the coffin, especially because I can't find faucet locks for the new Perlick model faucets.

Cant help you with the tray, but I'm sure digging that old iron. Is that massive door handle stock?

I made this with one solid peace of cherry wood. The wood and all taps lift up with the lid - makes it easier to take kegs in and out and to clean.

My keezer died a few weeks ago. The 1990 10 cubic foot chest freezer just finally gave in. Here she was:

I was lucky to find a replacement freezer quickly, and was super happy to find a brand new 7.1 cubic foot Igloo chest freezer in black at Walmart for $168. So, I broke down my collar, resized it for the smaller freezer, and then threw it on. Added a dolly. No new staining or painting. Here is the result:

I've kept the 6 taps on there for now even though I can only get 4 kegs in the new keezer. Excited about the better efficiency from the new freezer.

I converted a side by side after seeing a couple threads on here. Very happy. Can fit 3 to 4 kegs in freezer side and a couple fermenters in fridge side. Gonna upgrade my fan to get fridge side cooler. Can bring it within 5* c of the freezer side. Also have an outlet in there to hook up a heater. Just got a couple new perlick 630ss and tap handles too. No photos with the perlicks yet. Digital tap screen - thanks to the raspberry pint guys - with flow meters - drip tray is sitting on squad frame - that is heald in place by rare earth magnets - makes it easy to pull out and get in to it

I got the same fridge, but without the external taps. I have 8 kegs in now ( four each side) with room for several cases of bottles. I have two fans installed on the wall between the sides, one blowing each direction in order to get a good circulation. The fans run off their own stc 1000 with the temp probe on the heat relay, so if the freezer side gets too cold, the fans run until the temp is even. I'm never more than a degree difference between the sides.

I had a question for anyone with the enclosed, coffin style builds. If you're freezer had the front temperature dial, do you just set it to a known setting? Curious since it gets covered up in the process and hope one of you fine people could help me out!

My front dial is covered, but it doesn't matter as I never touch it. You need to use an external temp controller anyway, because you don't want to freeze the beer with your freezer.
