I decided to go the un-conventional route.... Not sure if it will work seeing as I didn't use any strings. Have two of each to climb each lattus. Cascade, Centennial, Nugget. Cost me $45 bucks to build. We will see!

Just found out my friends mom has a huge hop garden. She used them to cover a fence about 10 years ago. She said they get tons of hops and they would love for some one to use them.

Only problem is they don't know what variety. Mystery hops. I wonder if a lab can test them for AA.

Cascade below just shot up 4 shoots! Had only 1 small shoot 3 days ago. Impressive! I had all my zomes pointed up but this Cascade still has shoots with quite a bit of separation.

Here are some of my hops. The first is Cascade and Mt Hood. The second is Centennial, and Chinook. I am planning on planting 2 Colombus, Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, and 2 Northern Brewer.

Here is an update on my garden. The first two are 2nd year cascade hops. They are doing well and growing a few inches a day. The other 2 or 2nd year centinnenials. They look healthy but aren't budging on the growth. Just pretty much sitting there. Don't know what to do to get them going.

last steps still needed to be done include. finishing the chicken mesh, adding more soil for my mounds, and most importantly planting hops when they arrive. my twines go roughly another 30 ft back on the roof to the other story of the building. many thanks to my boss for allowing me to grow these in the backyard of my place of employment. I always have full access and can monitor daily.

blitzcreeg - nice setup. looks like there are a lot of trees that could block the sun once their leaves come in. if you can, you should thin them out a bit. hops want as much sun as they can get.

thanks swetcell, i was hoping id have the hops going up the vine by the time the tree blooms, but looks like ill probably be trimming the trees when i recieve my plants afterall. hopefully very soon.

Rhizomes really took off the last few days. 2nd yr plants picking up speed again too. Overnight lows finally went from 40's to 60's/70's.

I have 3 of each cascade columbus and centennial and one mystery variety... my friend got a rhizome for free and gave it to me.

I planted March 25th. I still don't have any breaking the ground.
I have read and done everything I can find on growing hops and nothing.
SO... My question is?
Should I carefully pull them from the ground and replant?
They get water, drainage, sun and used compost in a mound.
Thanks for your help here.
