I already had a really active fermentation in this cider for about 8 hours on day 1. We're on day 4 now and when I woke up I suddenly had another spike in activity and I'm worried that there may be an infection of some kind. Any ideas on what might cause this or what to do now?

I wouldn't dream of throwing it away. It might have restarted for any number of reasons: warmed up after a cold spell is the most likely reason. Without knowing your recipe and method it's impossible to say.
It's possible it's become infected, but that's far from the most likely reason and it probably wouldn't give a visible spurt in fermentation either.

My recipe is just a turbo cider. It's 1 Gal of motts apple juice and 1 pack of US-05
