Total newb and bought my keg kit with the regular faucets. Could have upgraded to two perlick faucets for $54. Thought they were just fancy handles nothing special and didn't realize. Now to get two it's going to be $85. is it worth the upgrade immediately? I intend to drink from these taps at least once a day. At the very least. I will have two taps.

Curious from people with experience with the cheap ones if I should bite the bullet and order it now.

I just installed 8 about an hour ago. They are definitely a nice upgrade...long term worth the money if you get SS

How do you guys use that much beer? At be I should ask, how long will a a corny of beer stay fresh? I can't drink that much and I am afraid if I move to kegging I will have beer going to waste.

To OP, what do you want to switch your taps?

OP I've started with picnic taps but I will go with perlick when I have the place for them. I believe in this case the one time investment will be worth it.

Brettg20. Wow! Is that in your living room?

I have a friend with 14 taps of homebrew in his basement. A little over 3 years ago he converted all of his taps to Perlicks and stated "yes, it was expensive but it was the best upgrade he had made since converting to all grain and kegging". I have since, been able to locate 8 of the discontinued Perlick 425ss (;my favorite model) for my build I hope to complete over the summer.

I sucked it up and paid the extra. Wish I had a clue so I could have saved myself some money off the bat. Oh well. It will be worth it either way.

I had the regular faucets and moved to the Perlick 525ss. The regular ones suck because they stick very easy. One time was so bad I thought I was going to break the handle off the tap.

So to have no more sticky faucets, they are worth the extra money. The bling factor the Perlicks have is a bonus.

I have slowly replaced all of my cheaper taps with perlicks. The cheap ones will stick if not used for a few days.

i would get the 630's if i didn't have perlicks. but i won't upgrade my 5's to the 6's, just doesn't seem like a monumental change.

"A knock off of the Vent-Matic, the Perlick if you notice has reverted to an uncoated, untreated plastic slide/plunger."

Fascinating - but that's completely incorrect, as there is no slider or plunger in either the 525 or the 630, plastic or otherwise.

Pretty clear this is dredged up 425 history.

I'm also betting this is the getting-more-notorious-with-each-post TLAcompany...

Cheers!
