This is the space I've been given for storing all things related to brewing...its in the downstairs bathroom nook underneath the stairs...am I harry potter? ...fml

Could be worse...

+1. I used to get yelled at everytime I tried to clean bottles. There would be bottles drying all over the kitchen and I wouldn't hear the end of it. Now, since she realizes that it's not going to stop (and I make her a kiwi beer she loves) she leaves me alone. I still only have a small cabinet inside...but it's nice to have an addition to the garage that's heated (woodshop).

The alternative is the upstairs "office"...my gf spends maybe 3 minutes a day in this room...she thinks its ugly to have "beer stuff" out where we live...I guess she doesn't realize i spend at least 30 minutes a day in the bathroom and less time in the office....once again, fml...but go vcu!

20 minutes and 40 bucks at IKEA can work wonders.

Saves alot of space and looks organized enough that my wife is happy. :ban:

I bet you can find something in the way of shelving to use for yourself. Even if it doesn't save alot of space the psychological impact of it just LOOKING nice and controlled really goes a long way IMHO.

You need to either lose the girl friend or buy a bigger house. Ideally both.

I had my stuff in our office closet, but my wife recently cleaned it up and made it more functional. I love that the office is way more useful now, but that means my beer stuff is now tucked into the back of our coat closet (which is under the stairs, very similar to your setup). It's kind of a PITA to get to everything, but personally, as long as I can keep brewing, I'm perfectly content putting everything away in the back of the closet.

I've found that as long as I support her in what she's doing, she'll support me. That explains why I'm about 75% vegetarian now, and about to run my 2nd half-marathon (when I never was athletic as a kid)...

Pick your battles wisely ;)

Wasn't it your wife that rearranged/ organized for a few weeks back? Swear I saw this pic before :p

As others have said, take what you can get- my beer equipment shares a tiny closet with my shirts, guitar, and amp. Of course, I do get the kegerator and carboy floorspace. She gets yoga stuff and her trainer bike in the living room. I call it fair.:mug: Kyle

As a side note, I think your signature is fitting:

"Beatings will continue until morale has improved."

LOL, love it!

That's about the same amout of space I have, bu tmine is half as tall. Be happy with what you've got, man.

I got lucky when we had the cat put nown. Now I have place my cornys in the footprint where the litter pan was.

Yes, FYL...

I have a whole room for my computer/guitar/brewing, including a 2-tap kegerator with door shelves full of beer (ok, not full right now...), plus I manage to keep at least a couple of small items in the kitchen nearly all the time (unless we are expecting company or she just gets tired of it) PLUS a pretty big garage where I do the actual brewing!!

Gotta have room for the several fermenters, couple of burners, many SS pots, couple of keggles, MLT, Freezer(s), and couple of tool boxes full of the odds and ends.
I shall never complain about space!

But I think some cheap organizing hardware will give you much more usable space under them stairs...

I agree with the organization part. I have just a part of a closet in my office, but I recently put up shelving where I can organize all the small stuff, and it works great. Besides, lets face it, women are right, it looks like **** to have a bunch of brewing stuff laying around all the time.

I would be pissed, however maybe I should feel fortunate. I have a 500sf room in the basement a 24'x40' morton building, and am currently building a private bar in my back yard. All this for my projects and hobbies. Damn my wife is awesome:ban:

I just cried a very small teer. All of you have atleast an area. I have brewing stuff in 4 different spots because non of them are big enough to store them all. Heres the rundown.

My apartment.
15 gallon fermentor on the kitchen table, also in the kitchen, Iodine for sanitizing, tubing and hoses and airlocks behind the sink or resting on the window frame.
In my room, Spare picnic taps, emplty carboys under my bed.
Kegerator in the family room.
My Parents house
Shed has 3 old 8 gallon kettles, old cooler MLT, grain mill, extra tubing, and a few boxes of random bungs, muslin bags and stoppers
Garage has my 2 new keggles, new burner and new 20 gallon kettle.

I just want one spot to put all my stuff. Unfortunately, I think I am beyond just a corner of the garage. I now need a brew shed.

Thanks for all of the replies. I am envious of some of you, but there are others that I feel for. As long as beer is being made it all works...thanks again.

Here is how i got my wife to give me the space i need for my homebrew hobby.leave all your hpmebrew stuff all over the kitchen to the point you have to make a path
