I just started a batch of Irish Ale and realized an hour after I sealed my fermentation bucket that I am about a gallon shy on my batch. Should I boil a gallon of water and use my cooler to bring it to exact batch temp and slowly add to bucket and reseal? No action on fermentation yet ...

Was your gravity higher than it should be?

btw... I just moved from PA a few years ago. Grew up on the west end and then lived in PA for about 10 years.

.if it is a kit then I'd say yes add the water.... if not take a gravity reading and if it is close to the expected OG leave it alone. better 4 gallons of good beer than 5 gallons of watered beer.
