just found this little gem which I would think could be GREAT for a CFC or whatever you want to use it for. It's lead free and it says you can use em for potable water so I assume it's safe for wort. Looked pretty cool so I figured I would share.

IF you put it on the back end of a cfc or a plate chiller there should be no issue with heat. Looks like a pretty easy solution to incorporate into a CFC.
 
Just my $.02, a dial thermometer is too slow to react to be in an inline system for our brewing purposes. Better to get a fitting from Bobby M. that accepts a digital probe and a stainless steel tee. Much cheaper and more accurate and quicker to react.
