So, I just harvested about 4 lb of wet hops from my first year Centennial. I have a couple people that would like to grow hops next spring. How do I go about giving them a piece of mine so they can start in the spring? Do I bury one of the main bines and give them a piece of that next spring or do I actually dig up some of the root(rhizome) in the spring?

I've dug up rhizomes in the spring as soon as the ground was soft enough to get into. That way they have the freshest piece possible. Most healthy looking rhizomes will likely produce, but you can also look for tiny white buddings popping up on the rhizomes. They will have a better chance of doing good.
