So I thought my shank was stainless but it looks like it may be chrome plated as it appears to be corroding or rusting. I thought it was gunk but a couple soaks in oxy and then blc did nothing so Its not dirty. Is it still usable or should I replace?

So many beers... so little time.

Possibly... The brass can add a metallic taste, especially on the first pour because the beer has been sitting on it. But they also make taps that are 100% brass, so it might not be that bad. I wouldn't rush to replace it, unless you are already tasting something.

Will this be detrimental to the beer?

Have you noticed anything? If not no :)

There's no reason it should matter. If there was any minuscule amount of lead in the brass you've already ingested it by now i'd reckon :)

Noticed mine were the same away. Slapped them back on and called it a day
