Never done this before. The event is 7/26 but they want all beer in by 6/26.

I only keg so this seems like a head scratcher. I use a beer gun for bottling from keg. I assume the beer will get warm during shipping. Not sure when they refrigerate it.

IPA seems like most the freshness would be gone by then -- around 5 weeks. 1 to keg/carb and 4 in shipping.

What am i missing here? Am i crazy that it seems like a waste of time shipping an IPA? It would be oxidized by then? I have a hard enough time avoiding oxygen via kegging. And also the carbonation is concerning

I don't compete anymore, but when I did, I would never have entered a competition that required shipping (or even dropping) more than a month in advance. Warm weather shipping is bad enough. But a month of sitting around shouldn't be necessary. I'd say the competence of the organizers is questionable.
