So I got a couple Cornies from an eBay softdrink distributor. Seem to in decent shape and the price was right ($17 ea.)

One thing I noticed. Before I could breakdown, clean, replace orings and reassemble, I put them on the keg shelf in my brew supply room. Both were empty and not under pressure. Just for kicks, I went back later and opened the pressure release valves for no real reason... One of them released air (it was completely empty before). so I shut it, came back a few hours later and it released air again! Not much, just a quick PSST...

What can cause this?

I guess I do remember that from high school physics. Wierd that only one keg was doing it. Guess the other one needs to be checked better for leaks.

It is very common for kegs to take a lb or two of pressure to seal. Some of mine will "leak" for a couple of seconds when I first apply the CO2 before the internal pressure compresses the seal. Others seal with nothing more than the pressure from the swing handle. I am guessing you have of each.

Nothing to worry about.

probably temp, but if it's an old soda keg, could be fermenting syrup.....what's the keg smell like?

Im sure after 13 years he's figured it out.

Hmmm. Unusual rules around here. Didn’t know this was the “only current threads home brew talk” group.

That’s ok. Plenty of more welcoming places to spend my time. See YA!

damn, i tried quitting at first too....helpful hint be sure to go to preferences and disable the notifications, they say they fixed the yesterdays activity one, but if you have a problem...just post in forum feedback, and ask HBT_Admin to turn it off.....

Only once have I been on a group where the defacto standard was to let old threads die. That group had warnings if you where posting to an old thread.

This group apparently has trolls waiting under a bridge waiting to send snide and condescending responses.

Seems like there should be a better way. Let me know if/when you guys figure it out.....or not.

By the way, I DO watch old sporting events.

Check out ManU vs Liverpool; Sept’ 15.
3-1. Killer game.

ahh damn, i got sucker in! :)

Nah brac it’s late and I’m sure you had a few 😜

I see you just joined, it’s all good man resurrecting a 13 year old thread will get some comments stick around and you’ll learn the ropes and you’ll also see there is a ton of knowledge to help you when you need it.......and some needling when you least expect it.

Nahh. Better places to spend my time.

I do appreciate your response.

I don't think you should see it as negative. It's pretty common "forum etiquette" that resurrecting old threads is "bad practice". The responses on here has been pretty cool. It was pointed out even as a joke. Overall I think this is a great forum. I've been on some toxic ones before, and trust me, this forum is far from it. I've been asking the questions that everyone has asked before, and instead of someone telling me "it's been answered before, do a search" I got really good info. I've asked the "wrong" questions before and instead of someone telling me "maybe this hobby isn't for you" I got good explanations of why certain things aren't a good idea.

This place is great.

I think we have all revived a dead thread a time or two, which is why it's funny when we see someone else do it.

:bigmug:

Currently I just browse Forums/New posts and Forums/Watched, which will only show me threads with current activity. And there are plenty of threads on here that have been kicking for years, just not usually the ones asking for help with a specific problem.
