Looking at so many other peoples' secondaries, it makes me wonder what is brewing in mine.

I racked it last tuesday, it's been done fermenting since wednesday and these spots have been there ever since.

They look similiar to grease spots on top with a few little white chunks.

I think everything looks normal. That gunk floating around is probably some husks from the grain, hops or yeast. I have had that in my secondary and thougt it was mold, but everything turned out just great, give it some time. In other words Relax Dont Worry Have a Home Brew.

I have a couple concerns looking at your secondary fermenter, correct?

You have quite a bit of headspace there. My secondary has the same ratio of headspace as a bottled beer, i.e. right to the bottom of the neck.

I'm not sure why you all would have so much stuff in your secondaries, if you let your primary finish up, and siphon off the top, there shouldn't be a ton of stuff in the secondary. Mine are almost always totally clear.

Finally, I think I saw a koi in there, you'd better take a look and possibly toss a coin in for good luck!:p
