I just started racking my two 1-gal batches of cider off for secondary fermentation and the minute I put the airlock in I noticed this little chunk floating on the surface. Looks like a chunk of apple (I pressed my own) more than yeasty bits.
Should I siphon this back out through a strainer to get rid of it? I've done a moderate amount of pickling (lacto-fermentation type) and in that case these kinds of floaters are Bad News, but not sure if that applies here. I still have all my equipment and sanitizer out so would be easy enough to do right now.
