I've brewed my first batch last Saturday. I first steeped 1/2 lb of flaked corn for 35 min at about 150 degrees. Secondly I brought it to a boil and added 5lbs of light malt extract and returned to a boil. Then I added the bittering hops and boiled for 45 min. For the last 15 minutes I added Irish moss and aroma hops.
We cooled it to about 65 degrees and taken a hydrometer reading of 1.042. Then we added a pack of Wyeast ale yeast and aerated the wort and placed in a plastic bucket for primary fermentation.
The directions say to leave in primary (bucket) for 3 to 7 days then transfer to a secondary (glass carboy) to settle for 7 to 10 days before bottling. Can I just leave it in the primary and maybe start another brew to put in glass carboy instead of moving the first batch around? I'd like to have a small pipeline built up for the day I can finally taste this stuff.
Thank you for reading.
