My Bavarian Hefeweizen is currently sitting in my primary but I am wondering if a secondary is recommended or needed for this beer. From what I have read 2-3 weeks primary should be enough before bottling, but just want to make sure!

no need, unless you were trying to get less sediment in bottles. Hefeweizens are built for speed so I wouldn't worry to much.
I let my Hefeweizens stay in the primary for 3 weeks, no secondary, bottle and let condition for 2 weeks. Hefeweizens are not supposed to be clear and some people actually rouse the sediment prior to pouring
