I'm brewing the newly released White House honey porter recipe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_House_Honey_Ale and was wondering if anybody else was attempting this recipe? Specifically I wanted to know if anybody was planning on using a secondary fermentation bucket, why/why not?

This batch was placed in the fermenter yesterday so I could either move it into the secondary in ~4 days or leave it there for two weeks. The recipe calls for a secondary fermentation but I'm thinking it's not worth it. Any ideas are appreciated.

There's a thread here about the White House beers. Check it out. Numerous people are trying them in various versions. I wouldn't try the secondary in a bucket. Better to use a carboy. Less chance of oxidation or contamination. Many people on this site forgo secondary and go from primary to bottle bucket in two weeks or so.

Doing a similar version, I racked mine through a modified cane/strainer combo in 8 days. I use the carboy for that good finishing of a beer. It technically wasn't needed, but it gave me the opportunity to "filter".
