Horses for courses. When you need one over the other, you REALLY need one over the other. 99% of the time though, you can go either way.

A little detail what you are trying to do with them would be great. This is just a vague question.

offset is nice cause it gets your knuckles away from the work area, like if your nut is cranked down to a large flat surface. The straight is cool because you can get them with 4 sizes on a single wrench. Those are the only straight ones I own. Otherwise i prefer the offset.
