So, I had my first schwarzbier (Silversmith Brewing), and loved it. It reminded me of a stronger, more intense version of Orfy's Mild Mannered Ale, but with a delicious strong Munich malt flavour (the flavour you get when you chew on the grain).

I would like to brew my own, although I am not yet set up for lagering, so I would aim for an ale version. I am not yet advanced enough to craft my own recipe, or even to read a recipe and recognize if it will have the strong Munich taste that I am looking for.

I spoke with one of Silversmith's people at a recent beerfest, and he said the schwarzbier was ~18 IBU, and their posted ingredient list had 6-row, caramel malt, munich malt, and chocolate malt, but no proportions.

Could anyone point me to a Schwarzbieresque recipe that would work as an ale, and has that strong Munich malt grain flavour?

Thanks,

Xygorn
