The international scientific community has finally reached a consensus as to the quantum state of Schrödinger’s cat, the subject of the famous paradoxical thought experiment postulated by Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger to highlight underlying problem of applying quantum mechanics to everyday objects.

Schrödinger wrote in 1935 that if a cat was sealed into a box with a radioactive substance and a flask of poison, which would break when the radiation reached a certain level, quantum mechanics would have it that, until the box was opened, the unfortunate feline would be both alive and dead. After years of exhaustive research physicists now believe that, after being sealed into a box for over 70 years, ‘the cat is most definitely dead’.

Well, given that the half life of Cesium-134 is 2 years, and the experiment was first proposed in 1935, assuming the cat was put on life support in its old age, he is actually .000000000727595761% alive right now. Don't pull the plug yet!
