Sazm Frazm... Wrong hose size....

Ok, just got back from Lowes.

Got 3/8 " hose as it said on the order for the Tower and Keg set up.... Then got 10' of 3/8 ID Copper tubing to retain cold into the Tower for pouring.

But it's 3/8" OD x 1/4 ID hose... Now I see that the barbs are 3/8"....

SAZM FRZM RIZZM RAZZM!

SO can I use this set up or do I need to take it all back and find something else because they don't have 3/8 ID Tubing and 1/2 inch Copper only comes in 20 foot lengths... and I need like 4 feet. Total waste as I don't need it for anything else.

So what to do???

Don't worry unless you got hose that has nylon filament reinforcements in it. Just heat up the end of the hose in boiling water before you push it over the barbs. If the hose has fairly thick walls you will have to keep it in the boiling water for half a minute or more to heat it all the way through.

If you got hose with the nylon filaments in it, the heat treatment still might work. Otherwise, take it back and get some without the filament netting.

Hopefully the tap barbs are 1/4".... they are still on the way...Due to arrive in the mail Monday.

Kegerator will be built Upon arrival of tower and taps. Hopefully it will not take all night... or Work tuesday will be tough.

Fingers crossed that the boiling water trick works.

It does- all my lines are are 3/16 on 1/4 barbs. Nice tight seal, no need for clamps! I use a small cup of water in microwave for about 1 minute (enough for a boil on mine) dip tube in for about 30 seconds, and pop her on. If you are using barbs with 1/4 thread, screw them onto a spare ball connect so you can get it on the barb far enough without too much fudging. Hope to hear about you enjoying your draft beer!
