Sanitizing

Do I need to wear rubber gloves when I sanitize my brew making equipment? If so are there any gloves to "avoid"?

I don't wear gloves when using star san, but I've read that some people are sensitive to it. If you are concerned you can certainly wear gloves. Any food safe gloves would be fine.

Unless you have sensitive skin and are prone to rashes of some sort, then no. Don't bother with them, you'll be more comfortable anyway.

Well, it will tend to dry out your skin, so it wouldn't be a bad idea. Either that or invest in some hand lotion if you don't like rough, dry skin.

I've seen some of sjpour's videos where he wears these blue thin gloves like I get at Walmart when working on the car. I guess those are ok.

I almost dropped a glass carboy using latex gloves wet with Star San, they get very slippery.

I don't use them when sanitizing with Star San but I do when cleaning with PBW; that stuff really dries out my skin.

I wear Nitrile brewing gloves when I am sanitizing bottles. If I don't wear those skin peels from my hands the next day. I am sure there are cheaper gloves you could wear.
