Sanitizing question

I sanitized everything this last weekend in hopes to brew my first batch of beer, but other things came up and I wasn't able to get it done. The next weekend I have is two weeks out, must I re-sanitize everything again (HLT, MT, and Boil kettle), or can I just brew since it will all be boiled anywa? I was going to re-sanitize the fermenter.

Anything that touches your chilled wort and beer [edit] needs sanitizing right before use. The hot side takes care of itself.

You can't sanitize unless it's clean. Hoses are the most difficult to clean.

Thanks, that helps a lot. I am going to fill my HLT with ice and water and use it as my wort chiller, so that morning I will add water and bleach to my brew kettle, pump it through the HLT coil and out to the fermenter. I will then pump fresh water through to rename. This won't take long at all. Could I also just boil water in the brew kettle and pump it through ?

You only neet to sanitize things that are going to touch the cooled wort and anything that is going to touch the beer after the boil.

Sanitizing usually is ok for a couple days as long as you cover what you sanitized to prevent nasties from falling in.

Make sure to flush the bleach out very well. Even very small amounts of chlorine (and chloramines) in your wort cause band-aid like off-flavors that cannot be removed and ruin otherwise good beer.

I don't use bleach for sanitation, just Starsan.

this is true. i will add that bleach is effective in combating a persistent infection in your system when properly diluted and rinsed well.
