Sanitizing hoses

What is the best way anyone has found to clean and sanitize their tubing? Getting my racking cane sanitized is easy but ive been having trouble with the tubing. Usually i throw it in the fermentor with oxyclean which gets it clean then when im ready to transfer i soak it in a sink of bleach water. So far its been ok but i just dont feel like i get the inside good enough. Would really like to hear other peoples methods of sanitation. Thanks for the help.

Rack some sanitizer from your fermenter into a spray bottle through your hose. That will sanitize the inside of the hose, and having a pray bottle of sanitier is really handy!

Yep, I utilize the "rack things back and forth" approach to let the solution flow through for the 1 min contact time. I also have one of those bug killer/weed killer pump sprayers that will hold 1 gal of sanitizer solution and the nozzle on the sprayer can spray right into a piece of hose. I'd be kinda sketchy about bleach & the hose retaining some of that smell/taste.

I have a small 1.5 gallon (popcorn) bucket that I load up with starsan (but any container will work). Place the racking cane AND tube in the solution. Holding the end of the tube, pump starsan through the tubing until it runs out the other end. The effect is that you're pumping starsan out and back into the same bucket with the racking rig.

Everything about the racking cane and tube is now 100% sanitized.

Thanks for the help. The bleach is probably what worries me the most. Ive only been brewing for a few months, guess its about time to switch to star san. Heard many good things about it. Happy brewing
