Same strains of yeast

Is there a list anywhere of yeast that are the same strain. Such as S-05/1056/WL001.

With all the new yeast company's popping up left and right and all new yeast coming out. It would be nice to know there's a dry yeast version that I don't have to pay an arm and leg for.

Or if there's not a list anywhere are there any that comes of the top of your head? Thanks!

I will tell you right off the bat that most liquid yeast strains will not have a dried yeast counterpart because, from what I understand, some strains stand up much better to the drying process than others and there are simply some strains that cannot withstand the drying process.

If someone could chime in with more information as to the underlying reasoning for this, that would be awesome. I'm not sure about the science behind it, but I would guess this has to do with the integrity of the cell wall and/or membrane during the drying process. Not sure what would make some walls/membranes more or less susceptible to damage during the process though.
