Does anyone have a recipe for Sam Adams Lite? My first homebrew will be an ale. I think SAL is a lager. Is there a big difference between ale and lager tastes?

Hey, good to see another Nebraska brewer. Ales tend to be fruitier and fuller tasting, while lagers tend to have a cleaner, crisper taste. But, there are exceptions to each.

You're smart to do an ale for your first brew - lagering requires the ability to keep the fermenting beer at a cold temperature. I'd recommend a pale ale for your first brew.

I assume you're looking for an extract recipe?

Well, i fell like i should jump in and join the NE talk!!:mug: Go huskers!

There is a diff in the tastes, but, if you are using a dry yeast i think you will be fine in doing a lager for your first beer. The dry yeasts that come with those kits usually need to be fermented at 68 degrees so it is not true laggering but hey it will still taste great!
