Nonbeer question to you folks. I'm heading up to Plumas area on Thursday for some fishing, hiking, and tent camping. Are there particular areas anyone would recommend? Any areas to avoid because of the fires earlier? My wife's particularly interested in the autumn foliage.

I think Plumas County avoided the worst of the fires this year. Where exactly are you headed? If you are going to Almanor you aren't far at all from Lassen. The hike up Brokeoff is particularly awesome, and I know there are some aspens up there that get really beautiful this time of year.

Not quite sure. We know we want to do the Feather Falls hike, have no idea which spots we should camp in, and not sure where we can expect to catch trout. Lassen is rad, but we did that a couple years ago. In it for the new experience.

Maybe check out the lakes around the Sierra Buttes? Nothing is that close to Feather Falls except Oroville.

Sierra Buttes are great.

I also love the drive on Highway 49 from Nevada City up into Downieville and further into the Sierras. Tons of great camping and hiking up there. So many options.
yeah, we're looking forward to the drive. Maybe we'll drive up to Sierra Buttes, and just plan on doing one night later at Feather Falls Trailhead campground before heading back home.

Now for the beer question. Planning on stopping in Auburn on the drive up or down for some hoppy treats. Anything I need to know about Moonraker hours or peak busy times? Going up Thursday and returning Sunday.

Anyone going to the Less Than Jake/Goldfinger/NOFX concert & beerfest on Sunday?

I think my ideal pregame beer spot will include: lunch and ability to buy cans to go?

Thanks in advance.

Sierra Butts are great.

Any restaurants with craft beer and vegetarian/vegan options close to or in El Dorado and Folsom? We are brewing a collab with Mraz on Tuesday and staying in Folsom Monday and Tuesday nights. While I dont, team Good Beer has dietary restrictions.

Considering Saturday show in Concord. You just know they're gonna play the Decline.

Cancelled and re-booked for my birthday in Concord.

They did not play The Decline. Seen them about a dozen times, this was below average for them, but not the worst I've seen them. Didn't even play "The Brews" at a beerfest, named after the same album said song occurs on. I literally don't remember them ever not playing that song.

Punk In Drublic not being on tap at the Stone booth, but only available for purchase @ $8/12oz can poured into a plastic cup was awesome from a "punk rock marketing" standpoint.

Goldfinger has only 1 original member left (the ******* to boot). Was like showing up for Thanksgiving dinner and your Dad breaks out his new gf without telling you ahead of time. Seen Goldfinger even more than NOFX, and this was by far, the absolute worst. **** set list, much like NOFX.

Less Than Jake was awesome though. Same with New Glory brewing. I can't figure out why they don't get much love, but I've now had a half dozen of their beers and am just really impressed.

I'll be in Sacramento for work in a couple weeks, three days two nights. One of the nights should be 'free' so trying to decide between Fieldwork and Capitol Hop Shop for dinner/beers. Thinking Fieldwork is the best bet but perhaps the food at Hop Shop makes it a better choice? Or is there any other beer bar (with food) that flies under the radar?

You can absolutely go to both. I would eat at Capital but also check out Fieldwork as well.

What's the general take on Flatland Brewing in EG? I don't live in Sac, but have family there so am there quite often...we checked out Flatland and I had some pretty great sours. How do the locals feel about it?

Rollin' thru Sac on Friday. Revision, Moonraker are staples of the trip.

Hoping to make it to Moksa before the 5pm rush. Maybe swing by New Glory or Fieldwork on our way out of town.

Holla if ya wanna IP swap cans from out east (Moonraker/Revision), somethin' crusty from the cellar or whatnot.

Would be down to have you grab some extra Moonraker if you're so inclined

edit: Fieldwork too

**** man I'm already back. Trip was Fri-Sun.

Should be poppin' some Moonrakers though next week at the Nugget for March Madness if you're in the area.

Low Viz, Electric Lettuce, Ghost Ship, Mosaic & Citra Doubles. Fieldwork had no cans. But I still have a can of Nine Trizzay we'll be cracking that they released 3 weeks ago.

Checked out Moksa w bigstrunso today. The beers were on point, & the space was great. This thread should be way more poppin with all the good beer in Sac.

Moksa has been good so far out of the gate. I have been there many times since it is just a few minutes away.

Enjoyed the Westy McPherson WC IPA this week.

A few weeks back I got cans of OLS and NTU500. Thicc Nibs Imp Stout was also great.

++++++

On a side note, it seems that not many Sacramento area people comment on the National Beer forums like TB or BA. Most are in the local FB Groups that are very active.

Sacramento Beer Enthusiast has 16,000+ members
Sacramento Beer Group has 2,800+ members

Moksa even has 2 closed FB groups, so most of the locals post there. The big Moksa group already has 700+ members.

That may explain a little about the lack of posting here at TB regarding Sac. Especially since Moonraker, New Glory and Flatland are nailing it right now.

Went back on Saturday...... but didn't make it in time on Saturday for Thicc Nib Bottles (588 bottles Sold Out) or even a taster of the new Methode Pastry Imp Stout, they only had 1 keg and it went fast. They said most of the batch of MP is going into bottles for a future release.

From pics going around, the line was pretty deep going around building after 9am on Saturday for the 11am opening.

Did get to try the new West Coast DIPA "Just How it Is". Pretty good, I am liking this hybrid WC style.
