Fieldwork had their soft opening today, it was pretty packed but the staff did a great job handling it. Tap list was great too, probably lots of good leftovers available tomorrow. I'm stoked to have them in midtown.
They had all the staff at the Berkley locale early last week. Some real dear in headlights moments with Crowlers. Hope it was a quick learn.

Were the glasses clean? Both times I've been to the Berkeley location I had to return glasses to be re-poured due to lipstick stains or leftover mouth residue on glasses.

Jesus, that is worst than the bubbles you often see on bar glassware. Someone is clearly blowing it.

Lipstick stains can be pretty difficult to remove, actually. They can survive a lot of commercial dishwashers. I always check wine glasses, most of them have lipstick.

Empress Tavern has leftovers from their Temescal and SARA dinner last night. Just stopped in for a Nonna's and Temescal Porter.

They posted earlier on Instagram that they had lady in grey, nonnas, west ashley and loves armor. Not sure on temescal beyond porter, I think pilsner and blonde.

Cross-posting from BA since neither site's Sacramento thread is super active...

I've got a bit of an amorphous question that hopefully I can get some input on. I'm looking to spend a night in the general Sacramento area (Sac, Roseville, Auburn, whatever) in a few weeks, and my goal is to stay in a fairly central area to have several options to drink good beer, with these specific qualifications:
1) It will be a Tuesday night, so some breweries are closed (Moonraker for example, I checked, and they're closed).
2) I will be in Tahoe, Oakland, Berkeley, Redwood City, and San Francisco on other days during the trip, so I'm looking specifically for fairly local beer - Moonraker, Berryessa, Track 7, whoever else I should be trying. If I'm near the Fieldwork Sacramento tasting room I might stop in, but I'll be going to the brewery in Berkeley so it's fairly low priority.
3) Optimal area would have a couple breweries I can hit in the afternoon, a good dinner spot (can be a restaurant or brewpub), and then a couple bars to have a few pints after dinner. Preference to bars that are focused on local beers (see #2), a bar who has a ton of great San Diego beer or has Cellarmaker handles is of little interest to me.

I know this is a fairly broad question and I've done some research of my own, but I'm hoping some locals can point me towards a good area where I can hang out for the evening, maximize my enjoyment of local beers, and minimize my Uber usage. Any other specific tips - food, something I should hit on the drive from Tahoe to Sacramento, or anything else - are welcome as well.

Normally, I'd say Auburn without a doubt, but as you mentioned, Moonraker is closed. Auburn's newest brewery, Crooked Lane is also closed on Tuesday. However, a trip to Knee Deep and dinner at the Auburn Alehouse is always recommended. They have excellent food and great beer.

If you really want to drive and hit Nevada City in the afternoon first. You'd get Ol' Republic and Three Forks. Great spots. In addition, downtown NC has some great bars and restaurants.

The Monk's Cellar in Roseville has great food and brews awesome Belgian styles.

As mentioned on BA, Downtown Sac, or more accurately, Midtown Sac is really the place to be. Breweries are hard to come by, but the supply of bars and restaurants is endless.

I'll be driving from Tahoe to Sacramento via the 80 so it sounds like a stop at Auburn Alehouse for lunch would be a good spot (perhaps with a pop in to Knee Deep since it looks to be just a few minutes off the 80).

That's looking like the consensus, thanks for the tips!

I got a problem. Mraz are ******* ****, and i might be the only person who thinks it.

This is 5th bottle, plus couple of tap's. Never had a Mraz beer that was decent, never mind good.

It confuses me as I read good things, but this was not good.

Regardless. Lets talk mid April. Got a meeting, anyone want to meet for a bevy? Normal downtown hotel was booked so i am out near the river( scotts seafood hotel)

We are hosting a bottle release for our sour collab with Mraz Brewing on Saturday, November 5th. It's a saison aged in marsanne roussanne wine barrels which were provided by my brother in law. We added chardonnay grape juice after about six months and the beer was in barrels for over a year. Naturally, I think the beer is fantastic. <- yes, I'm a homer and love Mraz.

For the release, we will have roughly 10 Mraz sours on tap and a few other Mraz beers.

Since I am such a Mraz fanboy and tosh has yet to be impressed by his beer, I am extending an offer. I will put Mr. Tosh and guest up for a night (or 2) at Chateau Kyle (my house) during the weekend of the event. I live less than two miles away from the bar where this will take place. An easy drunk walk.

This is all in the name of spreading the love for great beer (imo) and good times. Hell, even if you don't like the beer, we have an endless supply at the house to make sure you have a good weekend.

So.... what say you?!!!!

Cheers!
