Rust on Inside of Chugger Pump Gearhead

I soaked the Gearhead, impeller and cover of my Chugger pump in pbw and noticed this on the Gearhead. Is this rust!?

If you have some BKF you can polish that right off. Looks like left overs from the tooling process.

There’s a bit inside the intake which I can’t get to. Is it ok if I just leave this alone? I’m assuming not harmful to the beer at all...right?

Harmless! That said, it would be easy to clean up with a 3M scrubbie and some barkeepers friend.

BKF Paste on a Q-tip should reach inside the intake.
