Well, the title says it all. It was stuck and i managed to make it fall in while trying to get it out. Anyone ever been in same situation ?

Im talking about the rubber plug that holds the vent on the carboy.

Any ideas ?

Plastic grocery bag. Insert bag. Turn upside-down. The bag will trap the bung so you can pull it out. There's a video out there somewhere.

Wow ! A lot of replies. I tried fiddling around with a coat hanger but was losing my patience. Ill try other ideas tomorrow.
I gotta brew my baileys red ale friday afternoon. So i gotta get it out. If not ill just brew with the damn thing inside :p

Doh!

One way to prevent that from ever happening again:

I had this happen to me as soon as I finished pitching the yeast. 3 weeks later, after I racked the beer and cleaned it out, I managed to juggle it around inside the carboy (upsde down) so it landed in the bung with the airlock hole exposed. I used a thin flat head screw driver and dug it inside the hole and pried it right out. Was a relief that it was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.

edit: Just watched the videos and they look even easier than that with the bonus of not buggering up the stopper.

I gotta get some of those ! Damn regular stoppers, way too stiff. Either they pop out or get stuck.

Thanks !

Thank ! The grocery bag worked easy. Just one quick pull and it was out !
I now bought the orange plug. But mine looks like this. One plug for the vent and one for a blowoff. 5$ at my local brewshop.
No more plugs poping out alone or getting stuck in.
Thanks again

I used to use the same ones you show there. They also work great if you decide to make a snake keg fermenter. Fits on snug and you can have larger batches... and Stainless is always bitchin
