Ok so i did my second extract this morning. It was another Brewer's Best kit (my first was the Red Ale) the American Cream Ale. I was more carefull with the santiation this time and did not leave the lid on the boil. The first time i kept the lid partially on the pot to keep the boil going really good. The wort kept boiling but did not reach a real big roilling boil. I am worried that since my wort didnt reach a big rolling boil it wont be as good as it could be. I know i shouldnt worry that it should turn out fine but im still a little worried. (Im still working on getting a turkey fryer set up for the boil but it will be a little bit.) I also kept most of the trub in the brew pot this time so i hope that this will help. I am still pretty unsure of myself during the whole brewing process but i am sure that I will get better with time and experience. I have been reading this site almost daily (i have alot of free time at work) and want to thank everyone for all the information. I dont think i have had a question that i couldnt find an answer to with just a little bit of searching.

It sounds like it went well! I think that as long as it was boiling, you'll be fine! Each time you make a batch, you'll feel more and more at ease and confident.

My son is now learning to drive. He is very hesitant and slow making his turns. Already, though, he's getting better and better and smoother. The first time I showed him how to drive a stick shift, he almost gave me whiplash. But then he got smoother and was actually shifting without revving the engine! He's still got a long way to go, but eventually it'll all be second nature and with practice he'll actually be a good driver!

Making beer is kinda the same. You get better with practice, since you're learning all kinds of new skills. And even though your first batch might not win any awards, it's good drinkable beer! And your second batch will be a bit clearer and smoother and your friends will drink it all down while exclaiming, "You made this! Wow!".

Welcome to the obsession! :mug:
