Help me out here. I brewed A MO/Fuggles Smash last night. 2lbs of Marris Otter for a 1 gallon batch. This is my second mash and I am still working the bugs out. I have been using BrewPal and while it may be great after I get the defaults customized to my system right now it is just driving me crazy. I mashed thin @ 2qts/lb. That gives 1 gallon. I batch sparged with 5qts. There was also a small amount of water below the drain level left from preheating the cooler. I figure approximately 2.5 gallons in. I got 2.25 gallons of wort at 1.031sg. I boiled this down to 1 gallon and forgot to pull a sample to measure starting gravity.

What is my starting gravity?
What is my efficiency?

I hate math so I let promash and beertools do it for me.

But if you figure you had 2.25gal boiled down to about 1gal...well that's about half, so your gravity would double Figure 1.062 OG

Now do you mean mash efficiency, or brewhouse efficiency?
