Hey everyone, A little about myself. I'm a 28yo automotive tech with a love of self destructive stressful hobbies haha. During the summer I enjoy building and racing my mustang and taking the boat on the local river (mostly bar hoping or drinking beer on the water). So with a healthy love for beer and a knack for building stuff, home brewing seems like a good hobby to keep me busy during the cold months.

I have done a few brew kits and really loved it. Currently looking to go from smaller 1 gal kits and step it up to 5 gal. the wholelotta work for 10 beers is hard to get past vs like 50 haha.

So ill be lurking around getting some research in looking for some useful information and feeling a little better about asking some questions and what not.

thanks!
matt

Welcome to the hobby, and the group, from CO :mug:

2.5G batches are great too- stovetop sized but a case of beer when you're done.

i had thought about that and maybe using my 2 1 gal carboys for like a 2 gal batch . but only way i can think of doing that would be get a 5 gal kit and try to split it in two...cant be to too hard i guess lol i havent gone and picked my own recipe or anything yet. does anyone sell 2.5gal ingredient kits?

I'm not aware of any 2.5 gallon kits. But you can build your own from scratch. Look up a kit you like, and check out the ingredient list. Buy half the amount of extract, steeping grains, and hops. Get the same yeast (won't hurt to use the full pack).

I have only done grain only brews. i wasnt even aware of extract brewing until the past like week haha. Thanks for the suggestions though :) ill def be looking into it.
