Saw this as a new arrival last night at the draft house and ordered a pint ($2.50 night!). I've never had it before and was surprised to get a very dark brown brew with a tan head and tons of hop aroma. This was a very hoppy brew and at the same time hit hard with a serious molasses taste as well. Not at all what I was going for on a warm April evening.

But I troopered on and got through it thinking...is my tolerance getting low? A DFH 60 later and I was done. So today I see that Frosty Frog is a 9% winter warmer. Why it was a new arrival or why they were selling $2.50 pints of it I have no idea. I might revisit FF in 8-9 months if it's still a pint night beer.

Winter is coing to an end (or has come for us down here) and the stuff has to go. That's why I would sell it for cheap

I guess, though it's listed as a 'new arrival' and I hadn't noticed it before. All pints are actually $2.50 on Wednesday night, but the higher abv stuff usually arrives in a 10-12oz glass and hence is exempt from the lower pricing (such as DFH 90). I would have expected a 9%'er to arrive in a smaller glass, but you're probably right...get rid of the stock (and I doubt it's much in line with local tastes in Holly Springs, anyways).

I other pub related news, I discovered Tuesday night that the Flying Saucer has a free buffet (appetizers, mostly) on Tuesday evenings. They also insisted, despite my somewhat vigorous protests, to include a lemon with my hefes.

Even in Germany you will find it done both ways. But I think, If you have to serve a beer with a lemon stuck to it, there is something you are tying to hide

Probably not a bad assumption at the FS, though the beers tasted quite clean this time. The Bardame was up to spec, too!

Interesting, I spent a year and a half in Germany and never encountered a lemon. Might be a regional thing.
