I consider myself a music guy, I listen to just about everything. As I sat here combing my mental lyric bank for awesome/ epic song lyrics, I realized I don't really know any. Every Lyric that has been seared into my mind is something little. A little snippet that the singer said that I completely identify with, that describes a feeling at a place or time I have had perfectly, and lights off a powerful memory:
More pink floyd than I can list,
RoberT Earl Keen:
I wished I'd cashed my paycheck
Before I came to town
But I reached into my pocket
Found three twenties and a ten
It feels so good feelin' good again
Radiohead:
Two jumps in a week
I bet you think that's pretty clever don't you boy
Flying on your motorcycle
Watching all the ground beneath you drop
You'd kill yourself for recognition
Kill yourself to never ever stop
You broke another mirror
You're turning into something you are not
Jerry Jeff Walker:
Pissin' in the wind, bettin' on a losing friend
Makin' the same mistakes, we swear we'll never make again
Pissin' in the wind, but it's blowing on all our friends
We're gonna sit and grin and tell our grandchildren
Then there is the other major catagory for me- songs that tell a story start to finish like a book you can't put down. Johnny Cash rules this world, lots of old country, and new "Texas Country", some john prine, even some bruce springsteen (lost in the flood)
