Hi all,

Stopped smoking 1/1/06
Started brewing 1/2/06

Brewing is so much better.

Batches:
#1 IPA from a Muntons kit. It was ok.
#2 Porter from a Muntons kit. Better than I expected. BTW use 22oz bottles for porters...they come out creamier.
#3 IPA from scratch (extract & grains) A solid beer. Good and hoppy, but it needs more malt to balance it out.

#4 Russian Imperial Stout. Took an already agressive recipe from a book and altered it by doubling the grains. Two weeks into six weeks of planned conditioning and I took a taste last night. I can NOT believe I made this beer. I would put it up against almost anything on the market. I can only imagine what it will be like when it's actualy done.

I am hooked.

Easy to get hooked, isn't it?

I'm still a noob, but I'm amazed that my first batch (a Sam Adams quasi-clone) tastes just as good or better than any of the "good beers" I usually consume (and a lot better than other beers I'm quickly recognizing as crap).
