Rim system pump

This has probably been asked before but I can't find it via my googles. So I shall ask it again.

Why would one buy a $120+ chugger pump like this one:

Vs a $70 "hot water recirc pump" like this one

Really I'm just trying to figure out what to look for in a pump.

Flow rate, head capacity, ability to handle particulates, food grade construction...
