The biggest negative is wasting your money. It just isn't necessary unless you have an unusually large percentage of potentially sticky adjuncts like barley or wheat flakes.
True, but at $2.50 a pound it's not much of a negative.
I agree that $2.50 is not a large amount of money but when I see endless posts from homebrewers looking for the cheapest price on ingredients or whining about not being able to buy supplies at wholesale I have to think that $2.50 per batch is probably worthy of consideration with many.
