Is it possible? It seems to me like it would be, but I'm pretty new and probably did not completely think it through. However, I cannot really think of any reason why I could not reuse caps if I just made sure they were clean and sanitized and fit back on a new bottle securely.

What am I not thinking about?

You are not thinking about the large type bend put in them when they are removed.

i have taken them off with a lighter and been able to snap it back on if say, i needed to run out for a while after i opened a beer. less than overnight of course.

Yes, but say I am opening it up with a little force all the way around so that only the edges are flared and there is no bend in the top or center of the cap. Then, it should work right?

They are like 4 bucks for a gross... why would you want to reuse them?

I would imagine if you really wanted to you could once or twice but I would think the risk of compromise of the seal or contamination would make it not worth it.

I have a few caps I am saving to reuse, and I either walked an opener all the way around or had a key that reached all the way over the cap and didn't bend it.

@TomSD - I am doing this myself to save my Westvleteren caps, so if I make an awesome clone then I can reuse them at least once. :)

Ahh ok. I typically remove my caps that way out of habit... call it mini-OCD, lol. I guess reusing would work as long as you were good about cleaning them and checked the seals before reusing them.

You could re-use them, but why? Caps are like $2.99 for 150, and even cheaper when you buy more. That's 2 cents a cap.
