I bottled my first brew about 2 1/2 weeks ago and I checked a few bottles this moring and noticed some residue at the bottom of the bottles. Is this normal or did I just get some extras in some of the bottles?

normal. yeast built up a little when it carbonated your beer for you. Check out commercial examples of bottle conditioned beers, such as Sierra Nevada Pale Ale - you'll see the same thing.

It's extra vitamin B, but might lead to some gastric distress. Pour in one motion (don't stand the bottle back up, and back over) and leave the last 1/4" for the beer gods...
