So I cooked the chip on my PWM for my kettle, I am building a new panel and mixed up the wiring. It looks like the chip is NE55P. I was just wondering is there a generic one or can do I need to get a specific one to drop it back in place. There is another number on it but I assume that is just a serial number.

Ne555P. One of the most common ICs in the world. Used to be able to get those at Radio Shlock. Any 555 timer chip would replace it fine. EBay or Amazon now likely since the shack is no longer..

You might want to figure out how you ended up cooking your PWM board before you simply replace that timer chip. It looks like it got pretty hot in that enclosure, enough to fry the blue tape (or whatever that is), which could mean that this might recur.
