I have a 5gal batch finish active fermentation, evidenced by cessation of bubbling in a three piece airlock, at it was destined to sit another week or more before bottling. Days after the airlock stopped showing signs of escaping co2, it's alive again. . Bubbling like it just went into the fermenter.

Is my concern of an infection vaild based on what I'm seeing, of am I over thinking ...?

Overthinking. As things settle out, some CO2 can be released. I'd check the gravity and if you get the same readings a couple days apart, it's done.

Did you get steady hydrometer readings when you thought it was finished? If it's infected it will keep dropping from that point.

Or it could be off gassing. You're just guessing without taking hydro readings.
