Have had a few issues with sulphur in my hefeweizens. I was told that reversing the dip tubes and running CO2 can flush it out. I am going to try this but I was wondering if any of you have had success doing this and how did you do it.
I did it to a Belgian that had a lot of sulfur nose to it and it worked well. I didn't swap the connections to put the gas down the dip tube though. I just let it carbonate like normal, then cut the gas and vented it over a couple days. Repeated it a couple times and it cleared up well. You could tell the sulfur was clearing up just by smelling the vented gas. I have no idea if utilizing the dip tube would speed up the process, though.
Thanks guys, I thought about it after I posted and I would imagine just carbing it up and venting was probably better than reversing the dip tubes. Not as messy.
