Tomorrow will be mt first attempt at all grain. I was in a hurry to go by and pick up my ingredients today. Went to my local brew store (left my @#$% recipe at home!) so I picked up

12lbs pilson
1 lb flaked rice
8oz corn sugar
1 oz east kent golding (1/2 for bitter, 1/2 for aroma).

Trying for a very light american ale with light bitterness. I plugged the recipe into beersmith and OG is low. The brew stores are closed on Sunday. I have an extra 5 oz of priming sugar (is that corn sugar?). I was thinking of using a pound of regular sugar along with the extra priming sugar to raise th OG. What would that do for the taste? Would minute rice do the same thing? If so what would I use in beer smith to represent minute rice?
 
Your priming sugar is most likely corn sugar. I would use it without concern. If your worried you can substitute table sugar as well.

Adding a pound of table sugar will aid in drying the beer out. So if your recipe isn't meant to finish with a high FG you could wind up with a finished beer that is dryer than you would care for.
 
I'm not sure how you came up with your numbers, but I'd spend a little more time working on them. Granted, I don't have BeerSmith, but for the program I use I came up with an OG of 1.066 for a 5.5 gallon batch by following that recipe.

If I were trying to do what I think you're trying to do, I would back way off of the base grains (I would use somewhere between 7 and 8 lbs. of the pilsen malt) and mash pretty low (like 149).

Without really knowing more, my best advice is to spend more time making your calculations before you brew. I would rather spend an extra two or three hours trying to get my recipe squared away than take an unknown guess at what I was hoping to brew before I invested the time and the money brewing an all-grain batch of beer.
