I was reading a thread on stuck fermentation and LLBeanJ asked the op if they were using a refractometer. This was the case for me. I know now that the refractometer reading after fermentation meeds to be adjusted. I now use beersmith to make that correction. But id like to know what the actual calculation is to adjust it when measuring final gravityI suppose i should just use my hydrometer, but i dont feel confident in my readings.

Thanks!

I actually took an FG reading last night on my Imperial Stout. I used my hydrometer and then took a reading with my new refractometer, plugged it into beersmith and the conversion was dead on. I don't know the calculation, but I think you can be fairly confident in the conversion using beersmith.

Thanks BryceL.

I noticed with beersmith the correction put the final gravity where I expected. Ill try my hydrometer on what i am bottling tomorrow and check it.

Thanks, thats what i was looking for. Im a scientist so i like to see equations like that. Its exactly what i was looking for.
