I just got my refractometer and have used it for one brewday so far. Took about 15 readings during the boil of my hefeweizen and was amazed by how easy it is to use.
Out of curiosity I decided to take a reading of my fermented, dry-hopped and carbonated IPA I made about 1.5 months ago.
The SG of the IPA (measured by hydrometer) read 1.061 on brewday, so I plugged that into the MoreBeer refractometer spreadsheet. I then took a few drops out of the glass of IPA I was drinking and the refractometer read 6 Brix. According to the spreadsheet, the CORRECTED FG of this IPA is 1.002.
There is no way this is correct. Has anyone else had similar problems? Is there a better correction formula? Or should I just straight up not use a refractometer post-fermentation?
Thanks for any help!
