Found a recipe off of beer smith, and thought I had everything listed...

9# maris otter
.75 fLAKED BARLEY
.50 crystal dark 77L
.12 chocolate

I'm out of flaked barley, and wondered if you guys
could give me some thoughts on what to sub it with.
I'm looking for a very malty profile, and low bitter(if that helps on choices).
I have a nice assortment of specialty grains as choices too.

Thanks for any advice.

crystal or carapils is used sometimes to replace flaked barley in stouts. I have also read that a small amount of malted wheat can be used to increase mouthfeel. I believe that the purpose of the flaked barley is for that.

Flaked barley will add great head retention and a creaminess to the foam. It's great and I put it in most of my beers now. Add some wheat instead if you cannot get it.

Thanks!
I have some wheat in flaked, torrified, and standard form.
Should I just go with the flaked wheat with the equal amount
that replaces the barley?
