Looking for a fat tire clone. Can anyone point me in the direction of their recipe where they had spot on results?

Midwest does (did?) sell a "Flat Tire" clone kit. It was good, but nothing like Fat Tire.

We had an impromptu brew day and brewed up this one:
3# Pilsen LME
1# Light Pilsen DME
.5# Munich
.5# Carapils
.5# Crystal 20
.4# Biscuit Malt
.06# Chocolate Malt
1oz. Willamette (60)
.5oz. Fuggles (20)
.5oz. Fuggles (0)
Wyeast 1272

I haven't had a Fat Tire, but this recipe is great! We've gotten many compliments on this one.
Sarah.

I did this one for a buddy who can't get enough of fat tire, he liked it.

I like the grain bill west and checked out your brew shed ::drool:: b-e-a-utiful setup!

I'll give your fat tire clone a go this weekend because if it sucks, I'll know where to find you

If you aren't sure on your water chemistry, you might leave out the acid malt, it's just there to lower my ph. If you can brew and hit your numbers, it will turn out fine. :mug:

I did the AHS all grain kit and it turned out great. It is very close to the real thing - but its been a while since I have had the real Fat Tire so I cant say how close it is. I am out of town but will compare it this weekend to the real Fat Tire and let you know.

I use 5.2 to pretreat the water. Testing the well water is on my (long) list of things to do! Still think I should forgo the acid malt?

I also tweaked the recipe a touch. I went with Saaz hops instead of the Williamette, and substituted caramunich malt for the 60. Thoughts?
