Evening,

I have been asked by a friend who is getting married in Oregon City, Or in August to arrange a few pony kegs for the reception. Apparently I am the 'beer friend', though living in Canada I am not sure of what to arrange. I am hoping for some advice on breweries and beers in the Portland area that I can pick up myself for the wedding weekend.

I am thinking about some sort of easy-drinking lager or pilsner and a more flavourful, hoppy Northwest pale (or maybe a mild IPA). Any recommendations?

Thanks, everyone!

My LHBS, Mainbrew has a lot of kegs since the have a taproom, give them a call at (503) 648-4254. They are in Hillsboro but what is a few more miles on your trip.

And I do love me some Victoria!

This is just what I am after- thank you! And it doesn't look too far from where the wedding will occur. I'll look into it more in the coming weeks. Thanks again.

You can buy direct from the distributor. The two big ones in Portland are Maletis and Columbia. The former has dock sales 6 days a week. Both are located in the industrial area on Swan Island, right across the street from one another, and both carry a decent selection of micros.

For a good NW Pale, you can't beat Deschutes Mirror Pond.

Hillsboro from Oregon City is a stretch. Especially trying to transport pony kegs.
Distributors would be a good way to go, there's even one in Oregon City:

For going direct to local breweries:
For an easy drinking pilsner, Hopworks Urban Brewery makes a great one.
For IPAs Hopworks has a good one, Laurelwood's is good, and Barley Brown's Pallet Jack (from Eastern Oregon, but available locally) are great options.

Oregon City to Hillsboro might not look long but depending on traffic could take well over an hour each way.

Ya, an hour might be pushing it. I'm not sure of our plans yet but I would like to drive the coast. If that happens we might be able to stop in Hillsboro on our way into the Portland area. That said, the distributor posted by pdxal might be an easier option.

Thank you for the advice, everyone!
